The Rider card of the Lenormand oracle portrays the men on horseback who made their living carrying messages and letters around town in the early 19th century. Remember that in those days the horse was the best way to move through the streets quickly and nimbly.
In the Lenormand oracle, the Rider is a positive card. It speaks of news arriving about the matter we have asked about; whether that news is good or bad depends on the cards around it. As a person card, it can also represent someone who comes to visit us, or a trip we make somewhere.
Keywords: A man, a visitor arriving, short trips, news about something or someone, a meeting, a conversation, a brief chance encounter, a young or foreign man, finding something out, messages, someone new, elegant and active, WhatsApps, emails, calls, texts...
Meaning of the Rider in the Lenormand oracle
The topic we ask the Lenormand oracle about is decisive when interpreting this card, as its meaning can vary. These are some of its possible meanings:
The Rider in love
News about the person we love is on its way, or perhaps they will get in touch with us. A new love, especially its first stage, the flirting. It could be a short romance, since these riders never stayed long in the same place. If we ask about a particular person, this would be someone who doesn't commit and flits from flower to flower.
The Rider in money/work
At work, the Rider is a positive card that speaks of news about a job offer: we might be called for an interview, or someone may propose a job or a profitable deal. The surrounding cards will give more information about the kind of news to expect.
The Rider in health
The Rider may point to problems with the bones, legs, feet or joints; remember that the part of a horse that works and suffers the most is its legs. It can also speak of news about an illness, or receiving the results of tests and medical examinations.
The Rider in family/friendships
Regarding family and friends, the Rider speaks of visits from relatives and friends, though always short ones. We may hear news about a friend or a family member, perhaps news of a pregnancy or a wedding.
The Rider for timing
If we use the Rider to measure time or to see when something will happen, we should always think of short periods. Traditionally the Rider is associated with January and with a time frame of between 1 day and 1 week, give or take. It always refers to something immediate that happens or ends quickly.
